    Interesting Ad

"i have a proven male ball python but i'm not sure what he is. i have been told he was a jungle, a leopard, a ghi, and a hurricane. i have looked at picks and he looks a little like all of the above except the jungle to me but since i have now way to prove or figure out what he is i am just going to pass him on to someone else. he is without a doubt something special. problem is i have too many other projects going on to figure it out.

Part of an ad I saw in kingsnake when I was browsing. I was curious to know everyone's opinion... because after looking at each of those morphs for comparison, I really don't see any resemblance. Closest one was maybe a hurricane... .

Y'all have more experienced eyes than I do. What do you think?

Personally, I don't know what he is. I did a search, and it didn't look like any of those to me. But I know a ball's pattern can vary a lot, and I don't know the specifics of each of those genes, so as far as ID goes, I'm sure someone who knows for sure will come along shortly.

Personally, I wouldn't ask $500 for a morph unless I knew what it was and that's how much it was worth. Nor would I pay that much. Not unless I knew what it was and it was a screamin' deal from what I could tell what it was, visually.

I like how he states it is a proven male. What's he proven for? Is he proven as being a male. Most people I know use it as a the snake has been proven as a morph or has something genetically special. I wouldn't give this dude 20 dollars but I could be wrong an maybe hes gold

    Maybe he means proven breeder.

But I could be wrong.... Why you would breed a snake with anything when you don't even know what it is is beyond me.

Some people like to take the ones that seem normal but have something that seems off or special (guess thats better word) an hope it turns into something genetic that can become a morph. Lots of people like dinker projects an some morphs we all love have came from them. But I personally stay away from dinkers people like to charge more money for them an more prove out to be a weird normal than something genetically special.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.... I'm not a gambler - I'd only buy something/use it for breeding if I know what it is. Haha.

I like to gamble but I don't enjoy throwing money out the window to find out im sitting on a bunch of failed dinkers that arent worth a quarter what I paid. But some have the money to toss around

That's why the forum is here though - we all gotta learn! I didn't know what a dinker was until this thread, haha.

Just a personal thing. Just like I wouldn't purchase a possible het; wouldn't even get a 100% het unless it was from a breeder with an awesome reputation that guaranteed genetics. Maybe I'm just stingy. ;)
