    Thermometer Mounting
So, how should I affix the thermometer to the tank In Such a way that it will be easy to clean the tank??

i have the probe and the cord for the probe taped to the bottom of the tank from the hot side over to the back edge, then the back edge over to the cold side, and then up to the thermometer body. This is then hanging on the back top edge of the tank via a bent paper clip.

Today I came home from evening worship services and found that Mycroft had pulled the thermometer down from the paper clip and that he had also pulled the cord out/off of the tape. Thankfully there was no adhesive or blunt force damage, but I need to get this fixed ASAP to prevent further damage/problems. I use he Acurite 00891 thermometer with the 10 foot probe.
I am hesitant to use hot glue as it will make it harder to clean the tank (I can see why so many people go for tubs instead)

thanks so much for your help

Tape is not good in the tank at all.
Hot glue is about the only way to mount the probe in the tank.

When I was using tanks, I just left the headset sitting on the bottom of the tank on the cool side and move it back to where I wanted it every so often.

I'm not sure I understand why hot glue makes the tank that much harder to clean?

My concern is like when I dump out the substrate, and then when I spray out the cage. There will be a thermometer proble stick to the bottom of the tank...

Maybe in just thinking about it too hard?

^ This. ;) If a little dirt stays stuck around the glue holding everything in place, it won't hurt anything. Just try not to soak the probe or unit itself too much with cleaner or water.

You could always get some aquarium tubing and glue a small piece to the bottom of the tank. Then, take your thermometer probe and put it into the tubing when needed, and remove it when it's not.
