Do ball python's need a photoperiod?
I have a small fluorescent light over top of my snake's cage that I only ever turn on when I need to see in. Normally the blinds get opened in the room and light comes in so this provides an OK photoperiod. However I may move him to a place in the house where there is not as much light coming in during the day. Should I put the fluorescent on a timer so it comes on/off or is it a total waste and the snake won't care one way or the other?

Do ball python's need a photoperiod?
I have been told that Ball Pythons don't need a photo period. They spend most of their time in hides during the day and only really come out at night. That said, my fluorescent lights come on everyday at 8am and go off every night at 9pm.

My two ball pythons are doing really well!!

If you are going to use light, try to be consistent.

    Good luck...

    They won't care.
I had to keep mine in a large walk in bathroom a couple seasons ago with no light at all except when I fed them or I was cleaning their tubs.
They not only ate better than ever during that time in there they also bred well and their personalities didn't alter at all.

Like everyone else said, it really doesn't matter. If you decide to supply a photo period though keep it consistent and use a timer. They come from a part of the world that is right on the equator so they're natural photo period would be 12 hours light 12 hours dark year round.
