Advice - Which male?

Hello,
I'm looking to add a multi-gene male to the mix. I've narrowed it down to a granite(proven line)/spider/yellowbelly
and an Ivory male, yes I'm hoping to hop into the yellow belly pool, lol. That's just 2 males people.
Both are nice examples of the genes and both are within budget, but do I go for the
triple threat or the super yellow belly. I like what the triple has to offer, more variety, cool mixes,
but the same goes for the Ivory. HELP! :confusd:

It comes down to what you want to produce. If you want more spider stuff than your bee female can provide, get the spider combo. If you aren't sure about IDing the yellowbellies from the normals, go with the super so you know everything is a YB.

I'm the queen of common sense, sometimes to a fault. However, sometimes you just need someone to help you think through the logic. :) I usually ignore the "What should I get?" threads, but the OP provided two specific males, their opinion of them, and has his/her other animals in the signature, so there is enough info to help for once.

I looked up what each has the potential to produce with your girls, I hope you did the same,
and adding granite into the mix lets you produce an Ebony, which is HOT! But a pastel granite,
just looks like a dirty pastel, IMO. So figure out what you like/want to produce and go from there.
Right now though, yellow bellies are easy to sell, granites, not so much.
Now that I have thoroughly confused you even more, lol, good luck.

I like Anna's logic here. I've got a hard enough time trying to identify a yellowbelly so I would probably go with the super. Going with any super is a great idea because you can't get normals! You don't have to worry about what you're going to do with all the normal males you may or may not produce. Even though the other males has a chance at a lot of different combos, you still have the chance for normals. With my luck, I'd get half normals -facepalm-

Another thing to consider (I don't know if you have) is what the ivory's parents look like. Are they both good examples of yellowbellies?

I personally am not crazy about either of those males to your females. I think that if you are willing to expand your budget a bit, a fire yellow belly or enchi yellow belly would be an awesome choice! So much. You could probably get a fire YB for $750, and I know that there is an Enchi YB on kingsnake for 1200. Hope this helps!

That's why I love this site so much, you guy's give the best advise and make me look at things from different angles.

You're welcome! I know it's always nice to have a few more brains working on a question than just one!

I disagree with what anna said. Her logic does make sense, but it isn't necessary imo. If you use quality YB when breeding them there's no mistaking them for a normal, no matter how little you know of the gene. :p
