Help with new water pump please!
So after a LOT of saving and money spending I thought I was finally ready to upgrade my snake into his new tank (55 gal.) I was very excited and spend around $100 buying stuff to make it both appealing to the eye, and comfortable for him. I bought a Duetto 100 submersible Power Filter so he can have some water flow in there, and followed the instructions as they said. The problem is that when I connect the filter, I can hear the motor working, and I can FEEL the vibrations but there is NO water being pumped through! What am I doing wrong? I spent $40.00 on this thing and I don't want it to be in vain.

    Any suggestions?

That is a submersible pump isn't it? does it need to be fully underwater to prime? It sounds like it isn't priming at all.

Thanks for your reply! As it turns out it IS a submersible pump and just as i had submitted this question, my mom dropped the pump in our fish tank and BAM problem solved.
    Thanks again! :)

One step further with Kitedemon's thoughts: some submersible filters need more than an inch of water covering them to prime and work properly.
