sliver of shed stuck on eye

My baby girl shed and it was a messy one. All in pieces. I kept the humidity between 70-75 % as soon as I saw her go dull, but that didn't seem to help. Thankfully, I had already read a thread about the tupperware/wet rag trick, and it worked like a charm. Everything came off ...except this tiny sliver by her eye. What should I do about it? She's not exactly keen on me messing with her face. She doesn't seem disturbed about it.

Leave it be and make sure your humidity is up for her next shed. It will come off then. Messing with the eye now can do more harm than good.

Thanks so much! I keep her humidity between 50-60% on a daily basis. I was kind of surprised about the shed coming off in pieces because I feel like I'm pretty diligent about it. Is there something more I should be doing? Are some snakes that are just bad shedders?

Are you soaking pre-shed? Some people do this thinking they're 'softening' the skin to make the shed easier when, in fact, the result is the natural oils being stripped from the surface; this actually makes shedding more difficult. If you're pre-soaking, I'd lay off it.

How are you measuring humidity? Your device may be inaccurate. Poor she's shouldn't occur if your humidity is good.

And it should be more around 60-70% during a shed.

I'm not soaking at all. Should I be soaking?
So maybe the humidity was too high?
I'm using the accurite humidity/temp probe. It was the one I saw recommended on this forum the most.

No never soak before a shed it almost always makes things worse.

Accurites have a range of 10% up or down.

Relative humidity is exactly that relative. It is related to temps 60% at 84 degrees is over kill and 60% at 75 is not near enough.

If you have cooler ambient temps you need 70%+ (mid seventies) and that is if the hygrometer is halfway accurate. Ball pythons need 15-16 gm/m3 of water in the air to shed correctly. The RH number relates only to how close the air is to saturation. Warm air hold more water than cool hence the lower rh. But 15-16 gm/m3 is the same.

I don't think that's a bit of retained shed.

It looks more like the membrane that joins the spectacle to the rest of the snakes scales. Sometimes it gets pulled out during the shed - it is normally hidden between the eye and the socket. :)

Retained spectacles have a frayed edge where the membrane tore as the rest of the shed pulled away where as yours seems nice and smooth as it is still connected as it should be.

So, the eye is ok? Will that membrane right itself eventually?
Relative humidity.Hmm. Her ambient temps stay 78-81. Her warm side (uth) is set at 93 and stays 89-92 at the surface. Her cool side surface temps are 77-80, depending on the day. It is very humid, weather wise, here right now. I haven't had to spray the enclosure for a few days to keep it at 60%. I have a water bowl placed over the uth to help with humidity.
Is there a more accurate humidity guage I should be using?
