So i bought a zoomed snake kit and tank for the new guy i got today and within hours the light fixrure stoped working. Thank god i bought a uth so he can atleasr get belly heat over night till i can get another one romarrow

Make sure you have a thermostat for the uth they can get extra hot with out it an you dont want a burn. I dont use lights for my balls if you can get the temps right with just a uth do that itll save you an be easier on humidity

I do. But come to find out when the lamp shorted it shorted the temp controller and uth so i had to house to of my some sized snakes in same tank over night. The tank has three hides on hot side and two on cool so they didn't have to fight over best spot. Lol.

Next time, your snake will be fine in a tank by itself until you can get a new thermostat or light. Cohabbing snakes is never a great idea. One night without heat won't hurt your snake.

I would also argue that cohabbing a similarly sized snake overnight won't hurt, either...and depending on where you live, night temps can be dangerous.

If they're the same sex or aren't breeding size, i would put them in the tank together rather than leave them without heat. My temps drop pretty low at nite tho.

Cannibalism in snakes can take no time. And size doesn't always matter, snakes have died trying to eat another.

Yes, I do know that, but ball pythons are generally not known for cannibalism. Not saying it hasn't happened! I know it has. But it's not like we're talking about kingsnakes here. I'm just saying, in my personal opinion, that I would rather two similarly sized ball pythons cohab for 8 hours than risk a cold night with no heat. I mean, 8 hours is shorter than most people put them together to breed.

Not to mention to OP made sure they had plenty of places to escape one another, not like they were crammed together.

I am in NO WAY advocating for cohabbing, I'm simply stating an opinion.

My wife keeps it at a steady 65 degrees in the house during summer so the snakes have to have heat in my house.
