Treating Cages In Snake Building With Pam?
It is time to move the Retics out of QT, into their new T10's. I was wanting to treat the T10's with PAM before I moved them out there, just to be on the safe side. Should I move the cages outside before I treat them? or would it be ok to leave the building door open and leave the glass open on the cages without moving them? The cages I am treating are closest to the door and are a few feet from the racks.
TIA :salute:

Treating Cages In Snake Building With Pam?
Personally, I'd move them. I only spray Pam outdoors, just as a precaution.
Re: Treating Cages In Snake Building With Pam?
I prefer to spray the tubs and small enclosures outside, and I let them dry in the sun. The sole exception is a 125 gallon tank which requires two people to move. It has plexiglass tops, so I remove the water dishes and the large BCI who lives in it, secure the tops, cover the ventilation holes with a thick blanket, lift just one corner of the top, spray, and secure the top so the PAM stays in the enclosure. I give it several hours to dry before putting Ms Boa back in.
Re: Treating Cages In Snake Building With Pam?
I don't spray the rack, just the tubs. Pam doesn't kill mites. It prevents the life cycle. You want to put any substrate in a trash bag, spray it, shake it around then give it a day. As for the tub, just spray around the edges and any vent holes. The mites leave the cage to lay eggs and having Pam on the edges prevents them from re-entering the cage. Thereby preventing the life cycle.
