I got both of my crested cages 100% finished, they are ready for their inhabitents as soon as they arrive. Just thought I'd share what I did.

I bought two rubbermaids about this size 2'Lx20"Tx15"W. They're opaque blue for security. And the top is hinged and locks down tight, real sweet. It has a locking button too, w00t.

The substrate is astro-turf, this does matte cause you can barely see it. I bought some pothos for 6$, bigger, better, cheaper then plastic herp plants. They cover a huge part of the cage and are tall for climbing.

In each cage there are about 8 pieces of greenish bamboo going horizontally all around, with pothos branches bridging between them for easy climbing. They're wedged in tight and can hold a good deal of weight. Supposing one should collapse, it'd be stopped within an inch by other bamboo and pothos leaves.

I have water dishes available. One has a half log hide. The other doesn't have one because I didn't have a small enough one, and there is already so many leaves to hide in.

I've cut the center of the top off and secured screen down for the electrical stuff. They are heater by 25watt red bulbs, they make a basking spot of aout 85. Cresteds like high 70's tho, but it's the lowest wattage I could find, and the room is 70. So it has a gradient. I might pull the lights away about 6 inches. I put a thermometer around it and it read 82. I put it under it and it hit 120... I felt it, and it definitely wasn't that hot. I am about 80% sure it was caused by the properties of infrared light. I'll do some tweaking for sure to weed this out as a potential problem.

I'm also using a UVB light for the night/day cycle. It'll also keep the pothos alive.

I'll try and get some pics this week.

Peter you should invest in a copy of The Crested Gecko in Captivity by Robbie Hamper. It's got a ton of great pictures in it and a bunch of nice shots of cage set ups, both simple and elaborate. It's also pretty well written and very up to date (it came out this year). Here's a link to the Hampers' ordering page: http://www.pythons.com/hamper/avail.html
