Getting a Little Ahead of Myself, but it's Okay! (BRB Qs)
I'm definitely going to be getting a BP first, but I've been interested in BRBs for a while, too.
I was looking at care sheets for them, and there seems to be a lot of different info for them, I'm confused.
Some care sheets I read say that the humidity level needs to be around 70-75% and adjusted depending on whether or not the snake sheds well or not. Then I read another one and it says it needs to be kept around 90%? What? Then I read another one that said the 90% is only for babies? If this is the case, at what point would I be able to lower the humidity to ~70%?
What temperatures do they need? This is the most conflicting info that I've been finding. One care sheet says between 75-80 degrees with a basking temp of 85 degrees, another care sheet says temps above 85 can kill them (and if that's the case, why would basking temps be 85?)? So confused on how hot I'd need to keep the enclosure!
How big of a cage does a rainbow boa need? I haven't been able to find that info anywhere. I've been able to find how much the inside sq. footage should be, but I prefer dimensions.
My last question sort of relates to the cage size - but if I got two different size Vision cages (one for my BP, one for my BRB), can I still stack them?

Wish I could help, but I don't have a BRB...... yet LOL

Re: Getting a Little Ahead of Myself, but it's Okay! (BRB Qs)
I have a baby BRB so his humidity needs to stay a bit higher. It's 75-80% in the enclosure, plus he has a humid hide on the cool side which he uses during the day. At night he'll come out and chill in his substrate or hang out in his climbing vines. Temperatures range from 75-85*F.
I think 85*F is the highest you can safely go on the hot side. As long as they have the option to move away from the heat in the basking area they're ok, IIRC it's sustained temps of 85*F or higher that have been reported to be fatal. Mine will hang out in the warm side hide for a day or so after eating while he digests, and after that he's right back on the cool side.
We just got a female adult yesterday from a friend who asked us to hang on to her while she deals with some life issues. She's been hanging in her warm side hide which is at 83*F, but she just ate over the weekend so that doesn't surprise me. She's 6' long and in a 55-gal tank (footprint is 48"x12"), which IMO is a bit tight for her. The length is fine, it's just not as wide as I prefer though she's a slender boa so she has no problems navigating in it. Something 48"x18" would be perfect.
