White Diamond Newbie
First time snake owner and newbie to the herp world! I keep getting directed to this site when looking up questions on snakes! So I decided that I might as well join and start leaning about the world BPs! Super excited.
Okay so somehow as a first owner I managed to get my hands on a white diamond? At least that was what I was informed she was by the gentleman at the booth at Repticon. I'll have to get in contact with her breeder and find out the exact details but even if she isn't a white diamond I'm still super pleased that my first BP was a BEL. I got her from Pinellas County Reptiles and I think the name of her breeder was Eugene but I'll find out more later.

Her name is Yue which is chinese for moon but my roommate insists on calling her "The Princess" LOL

These aren't the best pictures of her, unfortunately its with her just about to shed so she doesn't look her best and dirtied up a little :C
My question is wondering what would be good to breed her with if I ever decide to? Obvs she's too small for me to breed her now but was just wondering if anyone had any combos. I know a lot of people aren't fans of BELs for the lack of markings or only like certain type of BELs. What would happen if I bred white diamond to diamond???
Also I got her about two weeks ago and she still hasn't eaten but I had to move her twice (once from the shop to a friends place then from a friends place to my residence) so I'm guessing that should be expected? She was pretty active last night and came out of her hide for the first time so I'm not if that's a good indication that she's getting more settled or not.
My next BP goal is a super black pastel because I apparently have to have an all white snake and an all black snake then maybe a firebee or a pied something.
(I love the puppy dog faces of the BPs omigosh)

They mostly come out at night, so it's a good sign that she's settling in yes. Not sure about the breeding question as I'm not super familiar with the BEL complexes, however you can do lots of fun hypothetical pairings on the worldofballpythons.com genetic wizard to help you decide what male to get. Congrats, she's a heck of a nice girl for your first BP!

Sweet first snake! She is awesome looking. As for what to breed her to, unfortunately the het Russo (what you would get if you bred her to a normal) is pretty bland. If you want to make more BELs, I suggest pairing her with a lesser or mojave combo male, like a lesser bee or a mojave enchi. That way you can make more BELs, and also some cool other combos. Otherwise, you could breed her to a number of cool males and produce interesting combos. The het Russo gene is subtle, but I imagine it could have a sweet effect on certain combos. In the end, I would aim to produce what YOU are interested in. Best of luck, and congrats again on a stunning first snake!

Re: White Diamond Newbie
Would butters be okay? I see that name a lot when I was researching about BELS. The problem with me breeding as I adore snakes as pets so I'd probably just want to keep them all LOL.
I'll try that generator also and see what happens!
Thanks so much- so far she's been super sweet and shy but seems to have a lot of personality. She got a litle adventurous last night when exploring LOL

Its kinda funny how she looks so pink here but that's because of the poor lighting I had.

Check out the Russo combos on worldofballpythons.com/morphs to get ideas on what boy you might want to put with her in the future. Congrats, and welcome to the addiction!

Re: White Diamond Newbie
A white diamond female is great (besides looking great) because as a super form of the Het. Russo all her offspring will be at least a Het. Russo, you won't get any normals. If you like the BEL complex, Butters would certainly work to make more white snakes with, but if you want a BEL with some markings or pattern, you may want to consider pairing her with a Mystic or Phantom. Plus who knows what the combos would look like once you start adding more genes to it.
First things first though, get her settled in and feeding. If your temps are good and you have her set up in a secure enclosure with a hide box, the next thing to do is leave her alone. Don't take her out for a while, let her settle in to her new home. this can take a few days, weeks, or months. I know when you get your first snake you're anxious for it to do well, but the best thing you can do in the beginning is have patience. Don't try to feed her too often either. Just make sure the temps are fine, and try to feed her once a week. Also, make sure her enclosure is in a place that doesn't have too much movement around it, at least until she starts feeding. Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement! She ate for the first time yesterday so I feel a lot better now about her being settled in and what not. And LOL yeah she cost most of my my tax return but I am so in love with her I don't regret it. worldofballpythons.com is really incredible but makes my wallet feel so little HAHA.
I'll handle her in a few days once I'm sure she's done digesting and see how she does. You're all very sweet btw ♥
