Humidity concern >_<

Grr I'm a little frustrated now cause the humidity in my tank seems to be jumping for some reason. I haven't had the humidity in my tank go over 60% and now all of a sudden tonight it jumped to 72% which I know is too much. I had to open the top up and let the humidity drop down to 50%, but it went back up to 52% right after I closed it. I'm afraid that if I leave it this high Elysia may end up getting sick >_&lt; Will it be ok for the night until I can put some more holes in her tank tomorrow?

EDIT- In under 10min the humidity went back up to 66% >_&lt; Dunno what to do right at this moment. o_O

EDIT- I checked on it again and now its back to 76% and I even took almost all the water out >_&lt; I can't keep opening her tank up over and over again to release the humidity, I'm sure she is stressed enough already >_&lt;

What kind of tank is it? What kind of substrate are you using? Is there any way to increase ventilation?

Its a sterilite 90qt tub. Right now its just newspaper because I took the carpet out earlier as I thought that was the problem. I dunno what I can do to increase the ventilation besides putting some more holes in it, which I can't do now as the drillbit I used to put holes in it, is not here at my house. The only thing I am able to do to reduce humidity at this point is open the tank every so often to release the humidity. I've had to do it about 4-5 times in the last 2-3 hours already as it goes down to 50-55% when I release it, then jumps back up to around 80% soon after I put the top back on. Will she be ok for the night? I can't stay up all night and release the humidity all the time, but I'm worried it will just keep rising. Is there any quick fix I can do just for the night or is she ok in there.

hmmmm..... that stinks about the bit by the way... if there is a hobby shop in the area a soldering iron (about five bucks I think) is even better than a drill bit for making holes.

Im sure there is a shop around here that I could get one from, but its 10:30pm and they would be closed now. I could always go out in the morning to get the bit though. I'm still concerned about leaving it for the night. Do you think it will be ok for just 1 night?

well I think it would be find for just one night - the first night I had my eco earth in it wasn't totally dry and my humidity shot up to "Hi" for at least five hours and my little guy is just fine. I think you'll be okay for a night but I'd get that taken care of when you wake up. :)

Yeah the highest was 83%
I hope it doesnt go much higher, Im pretty sure the humidity will drop during the night.

I'm pretty sure that snakes have to endure humid weather from time to time out in the wild as well. I lived in Tucson for a number of years, and during our brief stormy season the humidity could be brutal. I'm sure he'll be fine so long as you take steps to fix it asap.

This morning I created a small tupperware holding container for Elysia and I took the cover for my sterilite and drilled about 60 small holes in the cover. A few rows on the right a few on the left and a few in the center. After putting her back into the container and securing it, the humidity is holding at 65%

I would like to put some more holes into the top, but I didn't want to leave her in that tupperware container for too long. I may drill some more tomorrow, I don't want to traumatize the poor thing ^_^

Is 65% still too much? Its more then I would LIKE it to be, I think getting it to stay in the 50's would be much better, but is 65% ok while I let her settle in for a day or two?
