Slight whistle noise

Ok so I just got an adult proven breeder spider ball python from a breeder. I notice he has stuck eye caps. I am not worried about the eye caps but he has a whistle once in a while when he breathes. It isn't every time but if he gets excited I can hear it more. He has no discharge and I checked his gums and no bubbles or anything abnormal. Is this just from a dry shed? I have had him for a week. I just noticed tonight after the rat freaked him out (he didn't eat). He was really upset after that so I heard the whistle.

I've had snakes with a bad shed around their nose make a whistling noise. Keep an eye on him and if you see any gunk coming out take him to the vet.

^^^This. Make sure his temps and humidity are good and continue to monitor him.

Cool side is 79. Hot spot 92. Humidity 60%.

I think there maybe a spot in his nose that didn't shed properly. It is hard to see. Thanks for the help. It isn't a bubbling or popping sound so far. I will keep an eye on him.

It's likely this, it happens somtimes when something causes their respiration rate to go up. I ended up taking mine to the vet awhile back because I was worred about it. It's completely normal though.

It could also be stuck shed.

I have a pewter that has a perpetual nose whistle. I've had him for about a year and he has retained the slight whistle despite having multiple full sheds.

As long as you don't see any other RI indications, it won't likely be a problem. Perhaps it is some stuck shed in the nostril, perhaps that is just how his nose is!

Same here, I have two snakes with a soft whistle but no other symptoms and otherwise healthy. I keep saying they just have 'talented boogers'.... :p

I am keeping am extra close eye on him. The breeder has an impeccable reputation. I have purchased my first snake from him and a couple friends have two and all were in perfect health. It doesn't mean RI isn't possible and I a bit paranoid. If I see any other sign of RI or the whistling gets worse i will bring him into the vet.
