new here and just adopted a ball python
Hello, I'm new here, and new to keeping snakes. A co woker just gave me a 2-3 yo ball python 3 days ago. It wasn't being taken care of correctly and never really has been. So naturally I found this place and set it up in a sterilite tub with vent holes, 2 hides, big water dish, uth, thermostat, and thermometer/hygrometer. it is much happier now :) I'm so glad I got this snake and I just love it to death.

I'm calling it jäger until I can figure out if its a male or female

Welcome and congrats on the beginning of your new addiction :P

Keep something heavy on that lid, as soon as s/he gets comfortable and starts getting curious, s/he's more than big enough to pop that thing off
(my BP girl got to be a pro at popping lids with locking sides when she was about half that size xD )

Thank you :) its nice to have that recognition. I'm not the type of person to get a pet without being fully aware of its needs and requierments. Yeah, jäger was given to me without notice but she only had to be in her old setup for a day before I had the right type of enviroment setup for her. I have always wanted a ball python so I was aware of their care years ago, but as of 8 months ago I started keeping tarantulas and scorpions so I was investing my money there. I'm already addicted to snakes though and I'm looking into rainbow boas. I'm really good at keeping advanced species right off the bat, I'm a perfectionist so every detail is planned out and followed correctly. My first tarantulas were a t. blondi and a p. Mettalica, both are not beginner spiders lol, and they are thriving 8 months later :)

Jäger just got done at the vet. A wellness visit, nothing to exciting. Its a girl, 1140 grams, 45 and some odd inches long, has a few scars that look like bite and scratch marks from live prey but otherwise she looks great. I was sent home with instructions to bring in her poo next time she goes so the vet can check for parasites. I'm glad that she's healthy and I'm so happy to have her :)
