Hey everyone, I'm Bill from WNY. I just bought a male ball python. He is somewhere around 2-3 years old from what I've been told. He is about 40" in length.

If you need rats, toyota89 has great quality ones^. Just shoot him a pm.

I live in CT. We can be friends as long as you aren't a jets fan. :D

good info on the rats! and I hate the Jets and Patriots....Dolphins I should hate, but I like the direction they are going...
I should add that in the past I have owned an Iguana( who died kinda young at 6 yrs old) and a green anole. Also have had tropical fish and always had at least one dog...I am not new to pets...Just snakes.

I guess I just want to get a few things right...Temporarily he is in a plastic rubbermaid container(20 gal) with a heat pad under the container...also he has a heat lamp with one 75 watt infrared bulb. He has aspen to lay on, as well as a container with water (about 1 1/2'' deep) for him to lay in. He is in the water as I type. I have fish tanks and an enclosure my iguana was in, so this upcoming weekend I will have a permanent home for him. I was told one small rat(frozen/thawed) per week on Wednesdays(his routine) is all he needs to eat. I just want to make sure he is cared for properly..so any imput is appreciated...oh and is there a strict humidity level for pythons?

Thanks mike for the reference. I keep my humidity 50-60% when not in shed 60-70% in shed.

If there isn't a thermostat regulating that heat pad then i would unplug it. The lamp isn't really necessary either.

One rat a week is fine.

I don't measure humidity. I keep the water bowls in the middle of their tubs and when i notice them going into shed i put it over the hotspot. I used to mist them but this method works just as well. (Props to jerry lol)

My house is usually above 65 degrees, and stays in the 80's for the summer. so I wasn't terribly worried about the heat. the heat pad is supposed to operate at 100 degrees and no higher...It really doesn't feel noticeably warmer than my apartment, which is 73 as we speak...If you think I should unplug the lamp and heat pad, I will
