    thermostat question
    i feel like a noob but i am so im asking as much as possible, so if i get a thermometer with a probe i dont need a thermostat to regulate the temps ?

    Thermostats are a MUST since they regulate your heating element.

    Thermometers just tell you the temperature of the hot spot/cold spot/ambient temps.

    Thermometer: A device that measures the temperature of the surrounding area. Thermometers are measurers, and their reading only reflects the world as it surrounds them.

    Thermostat: A device that is used to regulate the temperature of the surrounding area. Thermostats take into account the world around them, and change it to suit their liking.

    It is essential to have both for proper husbandry.
