Sooo ive been going back and forth between a ProProducts RHP and an Ultratherm UTH for an AnimalPlastics T8. If i go with the rhp, would it be more effective if i drill holes in the hide thats on the heat side, so that the heat can really penetrate through. Someone said the uth wouldnt penetrate the T8. Is this true?

    Thanks,
    Tom

I don't have any AnimalPlastic cages but have never read that a uth won't work. They would not offer flexwatt if the heat could not penetrate.

As for drilling holes in the hide. I don't think the snake would like it. It would take away from its security and the heat is not going to pass through in any amount that would make it worth it.

Having both uth and rhp in my cages I would suggest uth.

it will be fine without drilling holes in the top, my IR gun reads around 88 or so inside the hide under the RHP (proproducts) and I use reptile basics hides, the black absorbs more :)
