    Just another eating issue...
My female has been off feed for about a littel over a month now, and I really want to get her back on feed. She was originally on F/T then switched to P/K then to Live rats. She is right at 850 grams and hasn't really been losing weight, but she just wants nothing to do with any type of rat I try. I was doing small rats once a week and now she is almost scared of them.

    Setup:
    78-82 cool side
    90 Hot spot
    Newspaper substrate
One RBI hide (she is pretty much out grown it)
    One large water bowl
Shes in a rack system 41 qt. tub. (my rack has open sides to let light into the tub, but lately I've noticed alot of people have the fully enclosed grey tubs that don't really let any light in.)
    Humidity is at 55-60%

My thoughts are maybe buy a bigger hide for her, cover the sides of the rack so that only the front part of the tub is getting light. Other than that, I'm not quite sure what to do. I really don't want to feed her a mouse, because I'm afraid she will want to start eating them, but I would like her to start putting on some pounds... She is a 2011 female. Any suggestions or input would be much appreciated.

    Thank you in advance!

The main thing I can think of is what you said, maybe since she is outgrowing her hide she is just feeling a little insecure. I have the tubs that are clear also, and a couple of my balls will only eat regularly if the sides are 90% covered and have a good fitted hide. You feed f/t? If so leave it in over night

She is on Live right now because she stopped taking F/T or P/K. I think I'm going to cover the sides of my rack and upgrade the hide and see if she will take. Any other input from others?

Those are good tips. She is also just at a size that a lot of them like to take a break and make us sweat. :P

Yup. They will definitely teach you patience that is for sure! I really was hoping to get her to breeding size for next season, but if it doesn't work, then we will wait and work on our patience ;)

    thank you for the input!
