BP noise tolerance

The best room in my house temperature-wise to keep my BP in is my computer room. Not only do the computers generate a lot of heat (lol) but it's also the only room in the house with its own thermostat (rest of the house is old-school water heated). However, some of my computers are pretty loud (especially my SGI Indigo2).

Since snakes don't have any ears and sense noise mainly through vibration, would they be able to pick up enough noise from the computers to become stressed?

They don't have external ears, but yes they do sense low frequency vibrations, like the bass in a car. As long as your computer is producing small booming sounds, it'll be fine.

Just watch your booming 5.1 speaker setup while gaming/music - I wouldn't worry too much unless you have a subwoofer or the cages are close to your rig.

i crank my bass and the only snake that seems to acknowledge it is my baby kingsnake all the way across the room.

I have put rubber feet on stands before. The rubber will insulate the vibration coming from the floor. You can also put a folded old rag under each corner of the stand and this will also act as a bass buffer. There is also this stuff called Dynamat i use it to sound proof cars that have bass systems. Put it on the floor and set your enclosure up on it. It costs about 14 bux for 2 12"X12" sheets. But the rags are cheaper.

Oh, I wasn't talking about having any sound coming out of my speakers... just loud cooling fans (I have some specialized UNIX workstations that are quite a bit louder than your normal PC cooling fans). Ippo's about to shed right now, but after that I'll try him out in the new room and see how he fares.

We have about 5 PCs down here and mine has somethning like 5 fans or something insane - your SUN box should be fine. At worst you're looking at a bit of white noise. I work in a netops center with a ton of servers (lot of rackmount lot of SUN) and if the combined fan noise wasnt bad enough we have those air circulation units that blow air up through the floor for additional cooling - sometimes I have to fight to stay awake amid all the shhhhhhhhh noise so I know it's a huge consideration for us big bipeds. I don't think what you're talking about will have any adverse effects - even if you have a vurtual wind-tunnel like this beast.
