Resorting to live to get girl to eat
I've had a female lesser BP (935g) who's been fed live or pre killed rats her entire life. I feed f/t. Well, she's stubborn and refuses to take the f/t. Four weeks in a row now I've wasted a rat. I'm resorting to a live rodent just to get her eating again but I've never fed live. How should I go about doing this and should I try pre killed? If so, how am I supposed to kill the rat? I have NO access to CO2 or anything remotely similar so the humane clean death by asphyxiation isn't an option. Whats the best way to kill the rat otherwise?

Your ball knows the best way to kill a rat, give her one around 10% an don't stress it. I feed only live I have no issues an had no issues

YouTube search: "Rat Cervical Dislocation" It's not a pleasant thing, but it works. You could also just drop in the live rat and watch closely. If your snake strikes and coils the rat you have to make sure the rat can't bite your snake. This is easily accomplished if you have feeding tongs. Just stick the tongs in the rats mouth for a minute until it dies. If you don't have tongs a pencil will do. Just protect your snake and never leave it alone with a rat unsupervised.

Make sure your feeder is well fed and watered. Don't stun it or anything else, just offer a happy relaxed little rodent. Make sure it is appropriate size and don't sweat it. These guys are good at what they do. All mine eat live, no problems.
