Re: Feeding treated rats?
Do a search on 'Ivomec' at http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/script...index.cfm?gb=1 for withdrawal times for cattle and swine pre-slaughter for human consumption.
Also, there's a very strong warning about ivermectin use in reptiles at http://www.anapsid.org/resources/rxdose.html so I would be overcautious.
Re: Feeding treated rats?
I honestly wouldn't feed treated rats. I mentioned this is your other thread. I would wait at least 3 weeks for the drug to leave the system. I mean, its up to you, but I wouldn't risk it.
Just to say, be careful when using Anapsid as a source. Its all garbage. Anyone here will tell you that Melissa Kaplan is unknowledgeable and gives out poor outdated advice regarding reptiles.

Thanks I was unaware of that.
Hopefully the FDA info will help the OP more. I noted in some instances there was a five week withdrawal time before slaughter, and humans are pretty tolerant of ivermectin - though many don't want to know that we're ingesting dewormer with our t-bone. :D

Yes I remember actually, but I forgot I had that thread :p I am just confused because you say not to use them as feeders, and then say wait three weeks. So if I give them a month from today would they be okay to feed? Otherwise I will just kill them off now and dispose of them. No point to have 30 rats I cant use as feeders.

I wouldn't recommend feeding any rats that have Ivermectin in their system *now*. I say you can probably feed them off later, because Ivermectin will be gone by then. I'm not saying that it will be all gone in 3 weeks. It might. But if it is still there, it won't be as strong/concentrated then compared to now. Not as risky...
But Jerry (snakesRkewl) said he's fed off treated rats fine without any negative effect to the snakes. So that is really your call in the end. It's your snakes and rats.

Yes I remember him saying that, their lied my dilemma. You were saying not to feed and he was saying he did it without any issues. I dont want to harm my snakes, 30 small rats is $300 worth of food where I am. I guess it would be ok if I leave them for another month or so?
