    Building, building, building, then...nothing?
Been pairing my female spider with my male pastel since the beginning of November. Her follicles have grown steadily since the beginning of the year and she's been building and plumping up like a beast. Now it seems like for the past month or so they've been "huge" and she hasn't gone anywhere. Maybe a little smaller than ping pong balls. I know she hasn't ovulated already because when I palp her I can still feel them. I stopped pairing at the end of April and she stopped eating about a month ago (which is huge for her since she's such a glutton).

Perhaps I'm gunshy? One of my females got about 3/4 of the way there this year then reabsorbed. I really don't want that to happen again (although I know it's part of the hobby). What do ya'll think?

I wouldn't count her out yet. If her follicles are that big and she is continuing to "gain weight" despite being off feed, then I would guess she is going to go for you this year.
My 1st year I bred a girl in January and didnt get eggs until August.
I am having the same thing happen with a virgin girl this year. She developed huge follicles after being paired with a fire in february with NO visual looks. She just recently went off feed after her last shed so I am hopeful that they got the job done.
When I palpate I can still feel the follicles but I have not witnessed an ovulation yet or I just missed it.
Keep your hopes up, she will go for you eventually.

My female did this too. She was building and building and then it just seemed like it stopped. Then I noticed that they were not breeding anymore and she started eating again... So i just figured that nothing was going to happen this year with her. But then she stopped eating at the beginning of April and then just last week I noticed that she ovulated. I really was not expecting her to do anything so I stopped pairing her and it was more of just getting her weight back up and get ready for next season. So maybe that is what your female is doing too

Think we're on the same ledge, my girl has been building like what seems forget, stopped pairing just yesterday, and she's been off feed for 2 weeks now.

Well good to know I'm not alone. Sure is frustrating.

I've got a girl that's been breeding since October with no ovulation yet. Still locking, still showing building behavior, still has good-sized follicles. She just...is in a holding pattern. I feel your pain.

How long between ovulation and hatching? My normal female (3000g) is a beast and I've been breeding her with my male lesser as well as my female spider. Both of the females bulged up and now my spider looks normal but my normal female is still huge and FAT. No, I never overfed her.

I'm not sure if I should keep breeding her? I kind of don't want to keep breeding my male lesser because he stopped eating about 2 months ago. Or maybe I should try breed my pewter male with her?
