well, now that i have my 55 gallon ter set up for knuckles, i have a water fall thingy in there and a water dish for him to provide a good amount of humidity. well, i have a screen lid, so that leaves the terr open to the outside temps and it doesnt keep humidity in very well. i have to spray the tank 10 times a day to keep it around 60% or it will drop to 40%. thus, i kicked my brain into gear, and i devised a really good way to keep that humidity up and also insulate it to keep it warm. get sum sheets of cardboard, and however long u want them, cover them in a black trash bag, and this will help make it a bit mosture proof. i used electrical tape to tape it to the cardboard. then i cut out a hole in the top where my heat lamp sits and i put a 1 inch raduis around the lamp of open space, so my hole is a bit larger than the rim of the lamp. #1 to keep the plastic from melting, and #2 to let air in and out. then i taped my homade card board cover to my screen lid and taped it all around to seal as much of it off as i can. and now, my humidity is up to 90%, but knuckles is in the process of shedding and i sprayed it a very good amout, so it should go back down ina few hours. but i hope taht somone can use this info or maybe add to it. thnx

ok i made it. its holding my humidity great. the air exchange is good enough. anyone with a screen lid i would seriously advise on making this. i think it should be put as a sticky or in the do it your self section. great idea snakeguy

You can also try slapping some contac paper (clear) on the lid - snip out the corners to make open triangles - I have one prepped for Neph (AfRock) to transition into in a couple weeks as she is growing like a freak and has hands down the most eye-popping feeding response I've seen in a snake - thawed rat within 5 feet of her enclosure and her head is out and cocked - our big BPs 'Suki and Sesha are right close behind.

Yeah I get a bit manic on feeding day :P

allrite, 8 hours after its done, the temps have risen from 83 to 88/89 degrees and my humidity is holding at 50%. how i just have to refine the temps more and humidity. i think if i lower the temps back to 85 or so, and get a bigger water dish, that should help alot. i hope to get pix of it later tonite to show everyone it. i have a waterfall thingy in it with running water that should help add to the humidity, but i need a heat source near it tho to be more effective. thnx, i appreciate it.

Another idea, just put duct tape on the top outside of the lid. Cheap, easy and works great. Covering with damp towels is another easy trick I've found.

    Thanks for the tip!

    I use a combo.
I had some vynal flooring lying around, so I cut it to cover 2/3 of the tank. I put a damp towel on the other the remaining space. I dont think my humidity would be high enough for the BCI without the towel. I live in dry dry Utah...

Cleaning Tank and other things inside?
Tanks man, i just made one for my screen, i can litterly see the condensation on the glass, it works perfectily. I get a small glass fill it with warm water sprinkle the water over the screen, that creates a rain like affect, plus it spreads the surface aera of the water so its more spread out, put the home made top in, within minutes humidty is wayyyy up... perfect timing too cause chong is about to shead. Thanks for the tip
