Hello everyone, my name is Samantha, most people just call me Sam or Sami!
I've got a juvenile ball python, and he's been home for about 5 months now. Just a bit about my baby...his name is Boots (I live with my parents as I'm only 19, and this name was a condition of him living here!). His first shed was a month after I got him, and it went absolutely perfectly. He didn't eat for the first 4 weeks I had him, but has since never had a problem feeding. I started him on one mouse "fuzzy" and recently moved him to two "fuzzies" because he's still too skinny for bigger prey, but he's gotten significantly longer. So far he has not show any signs of illness, and I hope it stays this way! He's only ever bit once, when I reached in during feeding mode without thinking, and he immediately let go and ran to his hide. I handle him almost everyday. He's my first snake, but I can't wait to get more!

This is a picture of him right after I brought him home.

Welcome to the forum! And congrats on getting a BP! You may want to consider bumping his prey size up. Most people (myself included) start hatchlings out on hopper mice for their very first feeding, so if he is already 5 months I can almost guarantee that he could eat at least a small mouse. How big are the fuzzies compared to him? You'll want to feed a prey item that is as big around ad he is at his widest point or a little bigger.

    I'm located in Michigan!

The fuzzies are about as big as he is around, just barely a little bit skinnier. However, he is still pretty skinny around himself, he hasn't put on a ton of weight he's just gotten longer. But he still does not look sickly or anything, cant see is spine or anything. I'll have to post a picture of him next to something good to compare it too so you can get a good idea and tell me what would be best to feed him! I do frozen food.

Does the fuzzy (or two) leave a noticeable bulge in his stomach?

Boots is a wonderfully ironic name for your snake. :D
