    Het Pied?
Someone on a local classified website is selling a 2012 het pied female, I was just wondering if she has the "markers"
I don't really know what they look like or if its 100% Just wondering what you guys think. She is also selling an 2008 male,
She says the male is a proven breeder.

    Het Pied?
I dont see any markers in that pic. What was the pairing that produced her? Is it a reputable seller?

When buying hets you need to buy from a REPUTABLE breeder, someone who stands behind their animals and someone who will guarantee the genetics of their animals.

Do not buy something based on markers.

Now do I believe in markers? Yes and I hold back PH pieds based on those markers however markers are not 100% reliable some hets do not have markers while some normal may have what resemble to pied markers.

In your case this specific animal does not have any markers.

This is what pied markers look like, the black "train tracks" on either side of his belly.

This snake is a poss pied however due to his markers it's believed there is a better chance.

I've heard of people proving out the markers and people who never could prove them out. If you are really going to invest time, money, and effort in a het make sure it's from a reputable breeder.

Here are pictures of three different Het for Pied belly shots. As you can see they are completely different from the picture you posted. That is not a Het for Pied.

Unfortunately, you cannot rely on markers or lack thereof. I hatched out 5 het pieds this year, with pied siblings so they were 100% het. Only two of the five had markers, the other three did not. But all were 100% hets.

The big thing with buying any kind of het it to know who you are buying from. Any one can claim any snake is het for anything. The trick is deciding who is telling you what you want to hear so they can pocket your money, and who is telling you the truth because they want you to get the snake you are looking for.

Could still be het for pied. They don't NEED to have markers to prove out.
