    How soon?
This is mostly geared toward people who now have multiple BPs or have even started breeding them. How soon after purchasing your first BP did you get "hooked" and decide that you wanted to get another one or possibly start breeding in the future? I've only had my girl for maybe 4-5 months and I'm constantly looking up different morphs and prices and what morphs are needed to make other morphs. I find it all incredibly compelling! I never would have thought this would be something to grab my attention, but I'm literally obsessed. I must spend at least 3-4 hours every day just reading about ball pythons. Is this typically how the addiction goes? haha
I know breeding is out of the question for a while, but I'm already looking at what I want my first morph purchases to be. I'm particularly fond of Mojaves (I just think they're absolutely beautiful) and Lessers..and all the potential morphs they can produce!

Just curious how soon others got hooked on this wonderful addiction. :D

im not a victim of this yet, but ive heared of many cases where the collection initially expands at one BP per month, or even faster than that.

its all very interesting, all the morphs and combos and genetics.... But you can be hooked on that for free :)

if you dont want to move too fast, just save up for your next one and keep researching, and then get something awesome. If you like mojave, maybe a nice jigsaw (mojave pinstripe) showing 3 colors, or a mystic potion or purple passion or super mojave or whatever, infinite choices.

getting a second one after 4-5 months is definitively more on the slow side of things :D.

It took me a month or two. I started with 2 normal balls. Now I have a couple multi-gene morphs and wanting more to breed exotic combos. I'm shooting for the stars with my first pairing. A possible 4 gene gem!

I wanted to breed ball pythons before I bought my first pair. I was fascinated by all the morphs and combos long before I even bought one. I have 16 with a new one in the works and 15 eggs incubating and I plan to add more. It's a bummer when you have to stop buying snakes because you are stuck breeding out of a small spare room. I still have plenty of space but I must pace myself!

I wanted a snake beginning wayyy back in 7th grade. I finally got my first one in the beginning of 10th grade. I wanted to breed them before i got one even. Like 7 years later, this year is my first year breeding! :D

My addiction was an accident, actually. Always wanted a BP, but mom wouldnt allow it. So when i got my own place with roomates who also loved reptiles, i was in heaven. One told me that snakes were like potato chips...However, when i made my first intended purchase i couldnt have been more excited about my normal male. I loved him dearly and SWORE that he would be the only one. Well, i worked in a pet store and one night a customer came in with her son and his huge BP they were lookin to get rid if. I only agreed to take it cuz no one else in the store liked snakes. Being the total novice BP owner with only the knowledge id read from some copy of BP care from the 1800's( no computer), i housed them together. Six months later.....yup you guessed it, that biggun was...female. she laid a clutch of eggs! I didnt know what to do? They ended up going bad.:( Feeling bad, i read everything i could about balls. It was also at this time i saw what was on the cover of REPTILES magazine....a pied. Mezmerized, i began to get Reptiles mag every month. I learned more n more, then went to my first reptile show...that was about 14 years ago.

I've had Allure a little over three months now. I decided I wanted to breed about a week after having him. I never intended to breed or I would of got a female instead of a male. I joined the forum like a week after I got Allure and everyone here just helped fuel that "I want to breed ball pythons" urge. If all goes as intended, I will be getting a female pastel axanthic hatchling this summer.
