I think my bp has learned the feeding routine...

So I feed my enchi in a separate enclosure (I know some say do.....some say don't...doesn't matter really, but I do) and I think he's definitely figured it out. I take it out and he picks his head up to say "Here...this will make me easier to pick up...." And before I even have him out of his enclosure he's already trying to climb in the other one. Fat kid...

He has really gotten comfortable with us and is developing quite the personality...

I think he is really saying "Dude, feed me in my enclosure, so when I'm done I can crawl in a hide, and not have to be picked up and moved". ;)

Hmm I understand, I fed my first BP in a seperate tub too, but I have since learned it is completely unnecessary.

Believe me, I did the same thing with my first BP, but just think about this, I have found the animals to be extremely addictive. I fully intend to own many of them in the future. I can't imagine the pain in the butt it would be to move each animal to a seperate feeding tuband back again.


Not to mention that I'm fairly certain the snake prefers to be fed in it's own enclosure anyway.

Cute! Mine's sort of getting like that, I feed in-enclosure, and she getts pissy when she's hungry. If she's shed and has gone more than 10 days, she gets real pissy, will hiss and jerk at me. :rolleyes:

I move Magnus as far as his cool side now, just to get him out of hiding. He's carved out his own feeding space. :P He can tell by how I handle him when it's feeding time. The dangling rat pup doesn't hurt either. Executed a perfect strike and coil within 7 seconds of the rat being in his enclosure today. /end proud mama rant

You guys are probably right--I fed him in his enclosure once because he went on a hunger strike before and after a shed. It's just routine at this point and I like that he seems to know feeding time by seeing me take the other enclosure out.

He doesn't seem to mind being moved because he never hides after I put him back in his cage. He casually looks around for a few minutes and eventually makes his way to his warm hide.

Also, this is my first snake and I don't "intend" to own many of them....at least not until I have more space...

How you choose to feed your snake is your bussiness. Some are not bothered by moving some are it is fine it just doesn't always work.

They absolutely know when feeding day is upon us. Most of mine around feeding day will be out and about looking hopeful. I keep a regular schedule but not ridgid. I like to feed Sunday or Monday but for example this week I got behind and am feeding tonight. Last night everybody was out poking around waiting for the magic rat delervering hemostats that didn't arrive.

That's too fuuny.
