Oh Happy Day! Switched to F/T Successfully!

At $3.75 per live fuzzy rat, I'm thrilled the transition from live to F/T (from Loxahatchee) today was seamless!

I left the fuzzy out to thaw at room temp on a paper towel on top of her cage this morning. When I got home from work, I warmed it's head with a hair dryer (don't tell my wife!) on low heat for ~30 seconds before offering it to her. I hardly had to zombie dance at all before her tongue was flying and she was in feeding mode. After a very short time she hit it square in the face, had a death grip around it, and was swallowing within a minute or two. Assuming she keeps it down, I am a very happy parent right now. YEAH!!!

This also means that she's now had three consecutive meals in my care without refusal. After a 48hr waiting period from today's meal, I'll be able to start handling her. My wife is actually the most excited about this part, as she's never held a ball python before. :)

It's awesome when transitioning is that easy, isn't it? All except one of my girls (BP's, boas, and kings) took immediately to f/t like they'd never had anything else in their lives. My MBK even went directly from live mice to f/t rat pups, the little minx!

OTOH the boys have me tearing my hair out - picky picky picky!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. For every one post I've made on here, I've read about a hundred others on the same topics. I'm nothing if not over-prepared. :D
