    Humidity levels
Hi, I was wondering are there any good ways to decrease humidity inside my balls tank? Our house is quite damp (she will be moving back to my parents house soon where it isnt) and the other night when it was raining outside (dont know if this makes a difference or not) her tank on the hide side reached 94% humidity so what do I do? I measured it at various times and the lowest it got was 64% (apart from under the aspen on the bottom of the hot side it went down to 24%). It was settling around 84% on the cold side near her water bowl. Some times of the day though it wouldd drop to 64-65%.

Just wondering what you all think and if you can help I welcome any suggestions!!!!
    Thanks

How is the tank heated? A heat lamp would dry out the tank, most people have trouble maintaining humidity in tanks because of heat lamps. Depending on the water bowl size you can decrease the size and make sure the top has plenty of air circulation. With that amount of humidity it is important to have air circulation to avoid mold among other problems.

50-60% is OK when the animal is not in shed, sometimes a little boost in humidity is needed during sheds.

Try a smaller water dish. If it settles in the 60's thats perfect!

Try to measure the humidity at snake level. An inch or so off the substrate.

    What hygrometer are you using?

Describe your tank for us. Size, heat source, lid type, lid cover?

Heres a few pics to give you an idea of what the tank looks like, its a plastic tub with holes bored in the sides. There are no holes in the top, do you think I should put some in? We have to keep a big bottle on top of the lid cause it doesnt click down at all.

Also, do you think I need a bigger tub for her? I cant tell you how many qts it is but she is around the 35 inch mark according to the snake measurer tool...
I had it a few inches of the substrate for a few days and monitored but it does seem to fluctuate quite a bit..

To give an idea of the size of the water bowl

The tub and water bowl came with her.
This is the crazy time when it spiked

Its a digital hygrometer/thermometer I got off ebay.

You could cut down on some of the substrate. Or you could add a couple 1/4" holes in each side of the lid to add some more air exchange.

I forgot to say about the heating btw I use a heat mat...
Ill take out some of the substrate, I put loads in to see if she wanted to bury like my little corn but she doesnt seem interested!
And how should i put the holes in? I dont have a drill...
