FedEx Fairy Cometh..New girl!
Fell in love with a Carpet not too long ago after seeing this massive female at a show and knew I just had to bring one into my collection. I couldn't sleep as ALL I could think about was this stunning black and yellow carpet that took my breath away. Like we all know, the night of shipping we don't sleep with the excitement of a new member coming, and when she emerged from the box, she greeted me in the customary Carpet fashion, "Who are the ___ are you?!?" Nom, nom, nom!. She is an absolute sweetie and am sure she will tame out well. As always, the first pics are with my iPhone, but once she settles in and has a few meals I'll get her Glamour Shots.
So here is the newest member of our family, Pris (and a few pics of her love bites):

Bear in mind, this is a VERY temporary QT tank. I blacked out 3 of the four sides and covered 2/3 of the screen top with a moist towel after this pic. She has a T8 that should ship out any day now (with a divider so I can expand her area as she grows). Herpstat showed up so I dialed in the temps the other day...

And her love taps introducing herself...The scar is from a recent wrist surgery, not from the precious angel...

She wasn't used to my hairy arms...Every time a hair poked her, she kissed me; with her teeth...

Got to LOVE the carpets. I am excited to see this girl brighten up even more and get big...

Yes but they tame out pretty well over time.
Congrats on the new pick-up! Shes a beauty!
Re: FedEx Fairy Cometh..New girl!
Not all Carpets are nippy, but they do have a reputation to be more on the defensive than others. I have always started to handle after a meal and a few days to start settling in, and she already lets me take her out without striking and calms right down once she is out. They are one you need the patience to work with and to continue working with. I can tell already she is settling in nicely and will tame out very, very well and be a great ambassador for her species...
But you gotta love the effort of those love taps! She is an absolute sweetheart and she will always have a great forever home...
Re: FedEx Fairy Cometh..New girl!
They tend to color up the more they shed from when they are babies, but she pretty much has her colors: black and yellow. Always loved those colors on a Carpet...
