NON VIABLE EGGS!!! ~crested geckos

I have a beautiful pair of crested geckos and would LOVE to have babies from them! She's a blood red and he is a yellow/dark orange/brown color. He is younger than her, but they have been have a 'good time' and she has laid eggs. Their habitat is everything they possibly need, they're healthy and just plain awesome all around, even in behavior. However, since her first hatch of two eggs, she has only laid one egg at a time. I was not prepaired for it so only recently placed a nesting box in the cage. The single eggs have not been viable, I can see she has only one egg in her again. I know not having the nesting box could affect this, which is why I placed one in asap so she does not begin to have complications. Could this be because the male is still too young? Or is it still too soon to tell with the nesting box being a new thing? (say like, a month?)

I'm not experience with the breeding of crested geckos (mine are all babies themselves!) but the Pangea Reptile Forum is a great place for cresteds. There are so many knowledgeable people.

I haven't had crested geckos for to long, and I am by far not an expert. I have read that virgin crested geckos can lay only one egg and it's perfectly healthy. My female has laid two good eggs (still waiting to hatch!) and two bad eggs due to stress. I hope you can figure it out soon!

We cleaned the tank today and I found two eggs!!! So she's finally gone back to two, maybe giving her the option of the laying box helped, but she keeps laying them under the mat, so I missed them again :( But I'll keep trying. They're both happy and healthy so I know I'll get babies if it's the last thing I do! Thank you so much! I never heard that about virgin geckos, but it's nice to know. I wonder, does anyone know how to sex a gecko in the early stages? I just bought a new one and can't tell if it's a boy or girl yet so it's hard to name it. Hoping for a girl so I can put them all together once it's big enough.

You can look for anal pores which would indicate a male by using a jewlers loupe but to be honest it never is 100% accurate. You really just have to wait until 25grams before you'll know 100% whether it is male or female.
