Possibly gravid female ball python soaking in water bowl
I just bought a 4000 gram female ball python from a friend who says she always lays good clutches and this is my first poss gravid ball python and notorious for having big clutches is soaking in her water bowl and I don't want her to loose this clutch since she locked up with a large spider any help would be greatly appreciated.

Soaking may be a good sign. Soaking and going off feed are the first solid signs that my girls are going to ovulate.

As pointed out, soaking in the bowl sounds more like she is preparing to ovulate - so she's not gravid yet, but hopefully she's about to be. :) Good luck with her!

The person that I got her from said she locked up with a spider male and has refused food since he got her March 8th and was showing the signs of being gravid just hadn't done her pre lay shed and should this week

If she's soaking in her water bowl, that doesn't sound like a very gravid snake, that sounds like a snake prepping to ovulate. When did she ovulate for him? The only way for her to be gravid is if she ovulated, and if she only locked up with the male spider in March, then she's extremely unlikely to be gravid. It sounds like she is preparing to ovulate, which would initiate the process of being gravid - once she ovulates, then she'll begin coiling on the heat, go into the prelay shed, and so on and so forth.

She is supposed to go into pre lay shed anytime now. I wonder if that has anything to do with it and being in a new place and tub
