Complete list of things to buy...

I've made a list of things to buy or make for my bp, feel free to tell me anything to add;

1. 90 qt. Sterilite container (or a smaller one for the bp when its young)

2. Two exoterra(sp?) hides

3. One large water dish

4. One DIY humidifier

5. One human heat pad

6. One heat lamp( if this is not needed than this can be optional)

7. Two pannels of astro turf or reptile carpet

8. And four small legs to put under the sterilite

9. One thermomiter plus something to measure humidity

10. A batch of fuzzie mice from rodentpro.com (or bigger mice depending on the size bp I purchase)

Ok, do I have everthing on there?

Don't forget a metal screen to cover the hole you cut in the top of the sterilite container for the heat lamp.

Oh yes, thanks! But if I don't need any extra heat with the heat pad than I won't even purchase the heat lamp.

I would say to go ahead and get one just in case. If my AC kicks in real hard on some days, I have to use both the heat lamp and the pad to keep my temps right.

Oh yea, and it does get pretty cold here at night, so yeah, I'll buy one!

Brad has a point i have my AC on all the time and at night it gets pretty cool. It is ok however for a ball python to experience a temp drop at night like they would in the wild but its really not that important. Make sure you get a night time bulb for that clip lamp. But other wise it look like your all set.

How old are you any way?

Its great to see someone who is willing to be prepared. I have known people who have bought a snake and then said what am i going to put him in. So its nice to see someone taking the extra step. And you were off to a great start the second you registered at this site.

I'd really suggest just getting one of the $15 AcuRite indoor/outdoor thermometer-hygrometer combos that many of us here use. You can find them in your local WalMart in the outdoor thermometer section (often close to hardware), and the security of knowing your temps and humidity is worth the few extra dollars over the analog gauges you'd buy at the pet store.

And by the way I'm getting the money for all this by working and doin' small jobs and such.
