What's Wrong

What is going on with these eggs? Look at my previous forum "eggs look wet". Humidity is perfect, temps are perfect too. 10 days old. All candle really well.

From everything I have read, the "windows" are from not enough calcium to form the hardened white shell. It seems a little early for them to be dimpling any, and that is usually from humidity being little lower than what is needed. With that being said, from everywhere I have read, even with the "windows" they will usually still go full term with no issue as long as all other variables are taken care of.

I use the substrateless method as well. I really put a lot of water in the vermiculite and put the light diffuser on top of it, enough water so that the weight of the eggs won't push the light diffuser into the vermiculite so deep that the eggs touch. I then put press and seal over the whole tub to make sure no humidity can get out, then I put the lid of the shoebox tub on it. No humidity can escape that way. I then open it once a week just to let air in for a minute. I haven't seen any dimpling in mine doing it this way.

I hope this helps, but like I said, this is my interpretation of everything else I have read on this great site.

I'm using the same method my vermiculite is really wet. The humidity is perfect now but it had an "oops" in the beginning they are fine now.

Looks as though condensation may be dripping on the eggs. I would recommend taking off the press and seal as it is unneccesary for the substrateless method and it is most likely the cause of the water dripping onto the eggs. Who knows, just a thought.

If you are having issues with low humidity or with water dripping onto your eggs from the press and seal, you can cover the eggs with a paper towel, dry if you are having dripping problems, slightly damp if you are having low humidity problems. I have used this for a few years with great success.

By your picture, it looks like your humidity is low. I wouldn't worry about the thin spots in on he eggs, they probably won't cause any problems.
