    Incubator
Hey, I built my own incubator and I was wondering what is the temp you have set on your thermostat?

It is my goal to reach 89 degrees and I wanted to make sure that the temp of the tub (where the eggs will go) needs to be at 89 degrees, not the average temp of the incubator itself, right?

Sorry, I am new at this and expect my very first clutch soon.

    Thanks.

Turn it on and play with temps until the spot your eggs will be sitting on is at 89. You might have to set it on 90 or even 100. It all depends on the unit. Experiment.

I put my probe right next to the egg box and set the t-stat for 89.

That's a good idea - putting the probe inside the tub. All the DIY instructions I read said to put the probe on the heat tape. I'll give that a try.

I have got a Hotbox incubator and a V-200 t-stat. The t-stat probe is just above the tubs, i've got a digital therm at the bottom of the bater and one inside the tub. T-stat probe reads 88, bottom therm reads 89.4 and tub therm reads 89. I am extremely happy with the Hotbox and V-200, very happy with the temps.

I can fit three tubs in the incubator. Right now, I have the top tub at 89 degrees but the bottom tub is at 80 point something. I also have a fan on top to circulate the air - seems it is not helping?

Does it have a false wall covering the heat tape?

No, the heat tape is taped (using aluminum tape) to the back wall. I wasn't able to put the tape on the sides because there is a groove there for the shelves.

Also, on the floor of the incubator, i have seven bottles of water.

Sound like you may need to add another fan to even out temps.
