    Yellow-belly Racer HELP!
Went to the lake this weekend and go ahold of a Racer. The poor guy has a skeleton tail, literally. It has no skin, no muscle, and I can see it's vertebrae. I brought it home hoping to take it to my science teacher to see what he says to do but I need other opinions. Since there aren't any nerve endings and it is just vertebrae could I cut that part of its tail off? There's a part where it is broken and hangs sideways and gets caught on everything and that's where I would cut it. There isn't an open wound anymore it's healed, just has the vertebrae hanging out. (It still has it's vent and a few inches between) So would it be okay to cut?

    Wow. I don't know.
I would talk to a vet first.

Good luck with it and I hope everything goes well.

if its a wild animal and you arent keeping it for a pet, which i really don't recommend you do, take it to an animal rescue shelter. They have people there who should know, and more importantly, you wont have to spend money on an animal that may very well die. Since its wild the shelter is more likely to have someone who can treat the snake, and if it gets better they will be able to rehabilitate and release it. trust me, it'll save you a lot of time and money, and the snake a lot of pain.
