    Air holes in rack???
So I just built a 41qt rack out of melamine, and my question is should I drill holes in the tub for ventilation? The tubs don't have a lid and there is a little gap at the top of the tubs so they can easily slide out (the gap is about two CD's thick). So do I need to still put some holes in the tubs or do you think the crack all the way around the top is enough?

I have about a 3 cd gap with no extra holes and it seems to work perfect for me. You may may want to start with none and see what your humidity settles at in a few days. Then go from there.

The humidity is fine I just wanted to make sure that is enough air for them to breathe and get a little fresh air.

Use a soldering iron. Faster, easier, less messy, no cracked tubs.

Well making the holes isn't my problem. I just wanted to know if they are necessary?

I would try it like it is without holes at first :gj:

This is a thread I would've started on my own soon since I'm starting construction on my rack. How do most measure humidity in a rack? Seems the majority uses infrared guns to detect the temps, but what about humidity? A dial/analog gauge that gets rotated between tubs every couple days?

Holes are something that you add as needed. They aren't absolutely necessary.

I used to do the rotation thing. But for me now, my snakes are in my living room. So the tubs are the same humidity as the room. I just look at the thermostat on the wall lol. I think you cal also find thermometer/hydrometer combos around at stores.
