A woman I work with, who is an absolutely horrible example of a herper, had an ornate box turtle her and her kids had raised from a baby. She got it a pet store (or so she says) about 3 years ago. Today I overheard her talking about letting it go wild, and immediately advised against it. She told me she was tired of "caring" for it, so being that I'm a sucker for any homeless animal, I took it in. I do not have a proper enclosure for it yet, she dropped it off around the same time the pet store closed. Luckily I have tomorrow off, and a paycheck to cash. I'm gonna' give this little guy the care he has never been able to get, bc he sure is cute as hell...
    So everyone, meet Spud.

Awww, man he's friggin cute! Gotta love the chelonia! I almost got a russian tort myself a while back.

I'm sure you'll be happy with him, and he'll be happy with some proper husbandry!

Oh, and since you're in the south, if you have a backyard you might consider making a small outdoor pen for an enclosure and using a reptarium indoors. It'd save you a lotta space, and make for a very happy turtle.

Cool for you. :) I had to send Jessica back to the swamp last weekend to put back her "new pet" -- a box turtle that was doing just fine on his own.

He's just too cute! Adorable name, too! I'm sure glad you rescued him from getting dumped into the wild where the poor little guy wouldn't have a chance!
