    Question about a big snake
So, I have noticed only when being handled she seems to breath out heavy here and there, at least that's what it seems to me. But I am wandering if you all know if this is just the way she moves when being handled or is something up I need to get checkout???

It's posted in the Anaconda forum ;)

Sorry, I'm not familiar with them, but I know my snakes breathe like that when stressed.

I'm going to say that the big breathy huffs are from being handled. My little snakes do the same.

    Question about a big snake
Could just be her own weight just making her breath heaver, while holding?

Never had one so I'm just guessing. I don't know if I would worry to much unless there were popping or gurgle sounds.

    Hope everything is ok.

Nope, no popping, no gurgling or any discharge of any form. Never hear it unless I am holding her lol, and yes, it is a yellow anaconda!!! Heres a few pictures I took of her a few days ago when it was finally warm outside!!!

And yes, I know, I need a haircut.....but don't look at me, just the snake!! lol

    Wow. She looks awesome.

Way different snake but... My bigger Carpets do the same thing when I have them out.

I'm sure someone with better knowledge can point you in the right direction.

I was going to say the same as 3skulls, not the same species, however my larger boas "huff and puff" when being handled.

cool, I thought it sounded kind of like when I go to pick her up and she hisses to let me know now is not a good time, just not as dramatic lol.

My BCI does the same thing. Sometimes she does it when she's moving around, but it's mostly if she's being held/there's pressure on her stomach (not us hurting her, more like when she's going over an object like the bedframe or our shoulders). It's just 'cause she's a big girl. :P That's why her nickname is "the fat slug", lol.
