    Ceramic heat emitter question.
Hey guys, I just purchased this ceramic heat emitter:

Because my light bulbs would burn out in 2 weeks. I heard the ceramic heat emitters last a long time, that's why I bought it.

This is the dome i'm using:

It comes with a dimmer built on the power cord. Do you think it is okay if I dim the lamp if the CHE makes the tank too hot? I'm scared it might affect the bulb or something.

Any other comments about these products or how I should use them?

I recommend you check with ZooMed. The instructions that come with the CHE state that it should only be used with a porelain socket, and the photo of the clamp lamp you posted states it is a ceramic socket. Here is the link to the CHE instructions:http://www.zoomed.com/Library/Produc...eramicheat.pdf. Also, Zoo Med says the CHE is U/L certified only for use with their Zoo Meds Wire Cage Clamp Lamp (LF-10). See this page for more details: http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/En...I7czoxOiIwIjt9.

    Re: Ceramic heat emitter question.
Zoomed also says that you don't need a thermostat with their heat mats.

I've use that exact dome with a che in the past and its been fine. Ceramic or porcelain socket doesn't really matter as long as it isn't plastic.

I have the same che zoo med 100w and use flukers clamp lamp 150w with out the dimmer. If you look at both of flukers lamps the one with out the dimmer says for use with incandescent bulbs or ceramic emitter.flukers lamp with dimmer only says incandescent bulbs I would to contact flukers by phone or email to be safe
