    New 41 qt rack?!?!
So I am building a new rack with 41qt sterlite tubs and I have one question. Is 4 inch heat tape enough for the hot spot with 41qt(it will be belly heat tape). I've seen people use two strips of 3 inch heat tape and people use 11 inch heat tape with 41qt. Any suggestions would be great! It is for ball pythons by the way.

I used 11" in mine. 4" for my 28qt rack. Seems to work good for me.

I'd suggest 11'. There is a new 6' heat tape out that is also great for 41 qts.

Where can you get the 6" heat tape. And 11" will cover about 1/3 of the tub no one thinks that'll be to big of a hot spot?!?!

I plan on using 12" THG tape in my 41 qt because it's going to be in a 70 degree room. I want to make sure there's a large surface area where the heat is coming from to provide at least a 75 degree cool side. The tubs are 35" long so it does make up about a 1/3 of the floor space.

I use 4" for my 41 qt racks. It works pretty well. Hot side stays about 89 and cool side about 80.

I prefer a 13" piece of 11" Flexwatt per shelf in my 41qts I build. Big snakes need bigger hot spots. It's simply a matter of thermal transfer. A small piece might stay a temp but it can't raise the ambient temp of a large mass as easily as larger surface area.
