SO just pick up this new girl yesterday :D Man She is a fiesty one. made an escape out of the deli cup i carried her him in and made a bee line for the floor. She than proceed to chase after my toes trying attack it:P, quite a change from the ball python i'm used too lol. I'm gonna get myself a snake hook. o So shes in a tub now but I will search for some branchs I can put in with her. She will only be in a tub until she outgrows it than she will be move to a more showy enclosure;) but man she is like a cornsnake size, I'm afraid to try feeding her anything but pinkies....

She does however exhibit some degree of jag issue. When she tries to attack me she will corkscrew her entire head:( makes me sad to watch this.... I have a bumblebee that has a slight wobble when feeding but nothing to the degree of this girl. The breeder said he didn't notice any wobble but than again so did my bumblebee breeder (granted she only has a very very slight wobble). Is this something she that will stabilize as she grows or will it get worse and worse?

Wow she is a looker.
You won't need a snake hook unless you just want one in general. She will settle down pretty quick over the next few weeks. My babies have been pretty nippy, I have used gloves.
Her Jag issue might be coming out more because she is stressed. I have read they can get better or worse over time but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Let her settle in a bit.
I always go in slow and let them know I'm there. With gloves they might bite a few times but will settle down.
Working with her and she'll be a different snake in a few weeks.
Oh and they grow quick!

I wouldn't divide the tub.
I have a couple that go a few days in the hide to a few days perching.

Do you know if the Jag is pure coastal or if it might have some other carpet in it? If it's just coastal when younger they will climb a lot but as adults they tend to just stay on the ground. Not that it won't still be a great display snake. you just wont really need a tall tank with lost of branches in it. Jungles will use perches more through adulthood.
I've never had a wobbler but from the people I know that have them they've never gone away. A breeder telling you they never saw it wobble could easily be because breeders usually have such big collections they tend to have less time for each individual snake. Which is understandable. And with your snake so young they would have barely had it in their possession themselves to potentially notice it. Or he could have just been lying. :P. really they shouldn't start selling the snake until they know for sure though.

From what the breeder is telling me, she is the product of a redphase coastal carpet X red phase tiger jaguar coastal. So She should be a pure coastal. She is a 2012 july baby, i'm not familiar with carpet growth rate but my ball pythons of similar age is already close to 800g....
I watch her a little last night and notice that she corkscrews when exploring, but i'm not sure if this is due to the the cage being too low and shes hitting the top, but i have also observer her wrapped around the branch with just her head upside down. The breeder claims that he never see this girl with any symptom but than again i guess he might not have seen it if all he did was clean and feed. I'm starting to really like her.... is this something i should really to concern about? I doubt the seller would take her back for this reason and I don't really want to sent her back either but it its gonna get worse than.......:(
On the flip side she seems to have calm down alot. No more striking although she still does the threat pose. I havn't actually try picking her up yet wanna wait till she at least eat once for me but man she is definately smarter than my balls i swear i could see her little brain spinning trying to figure me out:P
