    Sizing rats
When you measure rats for selling do you sell by weight or length and if length is it from nose to rump or to end of tail?

    1.1 pastels, 1.0 lesser, 0.1 het blurry, 0.1 spider, 1.1 norm. 0.1 dinker,

I try weight in grams. Now the amount of local people that know what I'm talking about when I ask what weight they need is about zero. Some reason everyone around here like saying small, medium an all that but I hate using those terms cuz noones smalls are same and so on

the problem is that the baby rats just grow so fast. if you completely sort through the rat colony only once a week, you get rats that are inbetween small and medium and inbetween medium and large. The only way to get it more precise would be to triple the workload and completely sort them through every 2 days. The best you can do is figure out a weight in grams that is right between small and medium, and a second weight that is right between medium and large, and keep it consistent that way. then you can give people a precise weight-range in grams for the different categories. But i guess you will always have to deal with a certain randomness, and with rats that are right on the boundaries.

grams are good, because people know the weight of their snake in grams, and then there are formulas for the right food quantity, like for example 10% of the weight of the snake every 7 days for baby/subadult and then a different formula for adults.
