    Weight Gain in building Females
So as I'm impatiently waiting for my normal girl to ovy, I started taking a look at her feeding/weight records.

    1/8/2013 - 1962g
    2/18/2013 - 2209g
    3/15/2013 - 2300g
    3/28/2013 - 2456g
    today - a 2600g

Now, all of these weights are not all empty. However, she does usually poop once a month when she sheds (also monthly...1/4/2013, 2/4/2013, and 3/14/2013). 600g (give or take a few) in 4 months seems like a lot of weight gain for an adult. By the way, she's a virgin 5 year old female that's been pairing since October.

So my question is this, is there a time during the building process when they shoot up in weight? Is there an average weight gain? It's more for curiosity's sake.

Not sure there's an "average" weight gain, but given your numbers ... you're set dude! She's primed to go. My girls are all over the map, the first is about to drop eggs in three weeks and her weight has hovered around 1800gms ... a couple others are 3000+. But in my experience, weight ranges don't matter. Just know, the smaller the girl, same with the clutch. But its all about healthy eggs at this point. Sounds like you're doing the right things ... good luck.

I'm really hoping she goes soon! She's driving me bonkers with the waiting. On top of that, it will be my first clutch so I'm just that much more excited!

They don't put on weight because the eggs are getting bigger. They put on weight from eating food. When the eggs get bigger, the material that goes into building them comes from fat stores in the female already. Therefor they can't gain wait if they are using their existing weight for making the eggs. Does that make sense to you?
