Environment change - behavior question

Hey guys, I had previously been using a half log as his main hide, but recently changed up his tank to include 2 of the rock hides.

Typically at night he'll cruise around the tank, climb up onto the vine and explore around.
After putting in the rock hides, he hasn't come out at all. He doesn't even know he has a temperature choice with an identical hide on the other side.

Is this good for him? Think he'll get more comfortable after he settles in and explores the tank?
He's probably nice & happy and feeling secure, but it was nice seeing him, now it's pretty tough.
Was his nocturnal exploration a sign that he was stressed out & looking for someplace more secure?

I'm a little worried about the humidity inside the hides too. It's not getting the benefit of the fogger I set up for him.
The ambient humidity is good, but inside the hide is kinda low.

Yes, yes, and yes. The air exchange at the entrance to the hide will take care of humidity, and he will eventually switch hides if he wants to. Most of mine spend most of their time in one hide, only changing occasionally. Make sure the rest of the cage is cluttered enough that he feels secure travelling to the opposite side, and that your hot and ambient temps are appropriate.

If your using a fogger the humidity should be fine in the hides. If you want to up it just place some damp moss in them.

A hiding ball python is a happy ball python.

I can add moss, but that means I'll have to spray it down daily.

No, I mainly keep my moss damp when the shed process starts. Once I notice a pink belly I make sure it stays damp. Other times I will make it damp and allow it to dry back out and then dampen it again. You can still use the fogger and it will help the moss stay damp longer.
