    Is occasional stargazing normal?
I just woke up to my BP with her head up against the glass pointed upwards. I've been noticing she does this sometimes, not frequently, but i've noticed it's happened quite a few times. Is this normal?:confusd:

Sometimes they do this, If it's more often than not it might be a respiratory issue.

Hm. What animals has he been in contact with? I thought stargazing was combined with weird swaying and flailing behavior, how does he act if you touch him while his head is up?

How long have you had her? Is it a new tank?

Mine has been doing it too. I can't vote cause I don't know if it's normal, but I'm inclined to say yes hehe.
I just figured he's planning a prison break and checking out the top. :)

Edit: It's not wobble or corkscrewing like some Spiders have. He just kind of cranes his neck and tries to get as high as possible. No signs of RI, he seems perfectly healthy. One thing to note is that he like being up on the vine when he's active. Then goes to sleep in his hide most of the day. Some said it might because the temps are too hot, but warm side is around 91 degrees & cool side around 82 degrees. Seems fine.

If his head is against the glass, did he also scrunch himself into a corner? It may be where he just landed for lack of room. Stargazing is more like deliberately sticking the head straight up on their own. Is there anything else he does that may be a concern? Any nose rubbing, bubbles, squeaks or clicks?

There is a difference between star gazing and parascoping. This is a parascope and its normal.

I don't know why they parascope but that is normal. Stargazing is like this

As far as I know this can be a sign of an RI. I would look in the snakes mouth for excess mucus and listen for wheezing and poping. If any of those symptoms come up, do a search for a snake respiratory infection and take the snake to a herp vet.

I think it should be noted that with mine & his, the snake is up against the side of the tank.
Pretty sure they're just trying to find a way out through the top.

My Dumeril's boa sleeps with her head up against the glass, pointing straight up. Don't know why, but it's usually after she eats so I think the other poster is right in saying sometimes they just "land" that way! Ill see if I can get a pic next time

Maybe they know how to mime and they're doing their "I'm in a box" routine...hard to tell in the absence of arms & legs.
