How often must a cage be cleaned? Yes, I bit of a stupid question I know.
-
I clean mine with a weak bleach solution (everything comes out, washed and rinsed....hides, too) every one and a half to two weeks unless there's poop or urates, which is dealt with upon discovery. Water bowl is washed and fresh water added every two days.
No question is stupid here, all info is good info

I wash mine throughly every month with bleech and everytime they poop i give it a quick over with soap. And again i second no question is stupid we're here to help were we can.

Yeah, Def. not a stupid question, I clean every three weeks (or two if there is any odor, or if there has been recent defecation) and spot clean upon discovery of urates or feces. Spot clean meaning reaching in with some toilet paper and snagging the urates (whitish balls) and feces and just flushing them down the john. Actual clean meaning take everything out and disinfect just like steelsack said. I've found that putting newspaper on the bottom (just one sheet thick) underneath the substrate makes it much easier to clean, definately easier than scrubbing stuff off the bottom of the tank.... eewww...

Cool, I was thinking of using astro turf as substrate. I've heard that it is easy to clean.
-
You could and its gives it that natural look to the enclosure.

Yeah or repti-carpet. Just be sure to get two pieces so you can soak one (clean one) while one is in the tank so you can just switch them out- makes life much easier. Also when getting astro turf be sure to clean it VERY well before having any herps live on it.

i put astro turf in may cage eventhough i dont have my 2 ball pythons yet the cage look good with it in there.

All hail astro turf! I love the stuff, bought a 4 x 7 piece for like 8 bucks......set for life!
Always seems to remind me of the Brady Bunch and how all the kids would be outside "mowing" the lawn of astro turf.......that show is the ultimate in cheese factor  , it's no silver spoons or diff'rent strokes, but a classic is a classic!
