    All Black Ball Python
I want to produce an all black ball python with no pattern. I was thinking of getting a male black pastel to go with my female black pastel. I've heard the possibility of some defects if I go this route. What are your suggestions? I don't want cinnamon x black pastel because they're more brown than black.

    Thanks.

Super Cinnamons (Cinnamon x Cinnamon) and Super Black Pastels (Black Pastel x Black Pastel) are pretty much all black, except for the belly(?)

As for the brownish ones, I've only seen a Super Black Pastel and they weren't brown at all. I haven't heard of any defects with BP x BP, but Super Cinnies I have. Someone can correct me on this tho.

Well, the Super Cinnamon looks brown to me and so does Cinnamon X Black Pastel. I want a pure black, with no spots/specks and no pattern.

super black pastel and super cinnamon are both listed with a morph issue: Duckbill & rare kinking. And ive also seen it discussed in this forum, especially the duckbill-thing doesnt seem to be too rare. But healthy ones also exist.

if they arent dark enough for you, then there is a little bit of a problem... if super cinnamon is not dark enough for you, you cannot just add another black pastel or het red axanthic. Cinnamon, black pastel, and het red axanthic are part of the same gene complex, you can only have two of these genes, or a super form of one of the genes. 3 super forms, 3 two-gene-combos, all known, all on WOBP with images... Dead end unless you add something more, another gene.

so, what could be added to make it even darker?

mahogany and ghi would be the ones i would look into.... But they are both very expensive, and we dont know if they are maybe in the same gene complex too.

    anyway, links:

    super mahogany, suma:

    super GHI:
http://www.worldofballpythons.com/mo...uper-ghi-ball/ <--- still pattern but really dark

maybe this can be combined somehow for more darkness.
