    ball python acting strange?
I fed him a f/t mouse. he struck it perfectly constricted it and everything. i left the room. came back 10 minutes later and it was like he was rubbing the mouse against his head. almost like he was trying to push his nose through it? he eventually ended up eating it as soon as i was about to take it out and throw the mouse out but it was weird. anyone ever have this happen or know why he was doing this?

I've seen that before. Who knows why they do it. Maybe they just like to get a good whiff right before they eat it. Maybe they are just looking for the right spot to start eating it.

No big deal as long as they eat.

Actually i have had this happen a few times. Its like they play with it. When mine was a baby he did some strange things like that, I think your BP is fine if he eat his meal. sometimes mine will constrict the mouse then go away then come back a min later and eat the mouse. They can do some strange things sometimes

    pookie!
Our boa will do that, he rubs his face all over the rat and it takes him so long to eat, he just messes with it for about 15-20 minutes or more sometimes. There is no "taking the rat away" from him though lol he is very food aggressive :P

    ball python acting strange?
I fed my ball python for the first time since getting him and he took the f/t mouse as soon as I put it near him then He dropped it, flicked his tongue at it, and then swallowed in backwards a minute later. I thought he was going to ignore it, but I was wrong!

Magnus played with his food the first time I gave him a small rat. I think he likes rat-smell better than mouse, because he went WILD-- full coil, sniffing it after it was "dead", even biting himself a couple of times in his eagerness to get to a place he could start swallowing. :D It was adorable in that mildly concerning way-- "is my snake going crazy?" Nope, just REALLY liked that rat.
