    A ball python bite
I just got a ball python a few weeks ago and I was just wondering how much a bite hurts? Cause he is going into shed and I'm going to need to put him in a smaller container so I can keep the humidity up. And I picked him up once just to check on him and I swore he was going to bite me lol so I put him back in the tank. And for some reason I think it is going to hurt like hell and wont get him off of me.

think about a pit bull bite, then take away all the pain, blood, reduce puncture sizes to pinholes over a vastly smaller area, and take away the legs and pulling behavior. If the snake does hold on then try using a little bit of water to get it to let go. You can google videos of bp bites and see that the worst part about them is your apprehension.

Have you ever been bitten by a hamster? A hamster bite is 1000000 times worse than even an adult bp bite. Lol I've been bitten by babies before and didn't even realize until I saw a teeny weeny spot of blood on my hand. Trust me friend you have nothing to worry about :)

I tell people at my PETsMART that if they've been bit by a cat then they've felt worse pain and damage than a ball python can deliver.

The strike is scarier then the actual bite, once you have actually been bitten (My ball has never actually tagged me) you will feel silly that you were ever nervous about it.

Dont feel bad though, Everyone is worried about it until it actually happends.

Yeah a good comparison is a cat scratch, which is worse than a bp bite.
But don't worry when I got my first snake I was SO nervous I was going to get bitten, I've never been tagged by any of my own snakes, but many others since I work at an exotic pet shop. A ball python bite is the least painful of most snakes.

A paper cut hurts much worse in my opinion.

Yeah, you may not even know the little ones did it. But for the pin pricks of blood. I have a cut from the serrated egde of the clingwrap right now, that hurts a heck of a lot more!

I would rather take bites from all my snakes at the same time then get tagged once by a small angry rat. most times once you wipe away the blood you can't tell where you got bit.
